Connecting at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick

The Cathedral of Saint Patrick has begun an exciting campaign to connect with parishioners of the Cathedral.  The objective of the campaign is to make parishioners feel more connected to the parish and the life of the parish community.

In 2006, The Cathedral broke ground on a new Family Life Center.  While the altar and the Mass are the center and heart of our parish, increasingly the Family Life Center is where parishioners come together to connect. The Family Life Center was largely paid for by a 2005 Capital Campaign that allocated funds directly towards the cost of the building. The three million raised covered approximately 70% of the cost of the project. The Parish borrowed the remaining $875,000 from the Diocese of Charlotte.

Despite the continued generosity of our parishioners, the Parish is challenged with paying off our debt without jeopardizing the financial stability of the parish. The urgent need to make payments on the Family Life Center debt makes a grave situation graver still as the lack of discretionary funds in the parish budget may require further reductions in ministry offering, parish tithing to families in need, and parish activities if not offset by a successful debt reduction campaign.

In order to assure that the life of the Parish continues to grow and that parishioners are able to connect with their faith and with each other, Saint Patrick’s will embark on a debt reduction campaign as part of the parish wide connecting campaign. The goal of the debt reduction campaign is to retire the $875,000 debt outside the Cathedral’s operating budget, thus allowing us to better minister to the needs of our parish family and community.

As Saint Patrick, once said, “No one should ever say that it was my ignorance if I did or showed forth anything however small according to God's good pleasure; but let this be your conclusion and let it so be thought, that - as is the perfect truth - it was the gift of God.”

We are all connected through our shared faith, our shared community, and our shared duty as brothers and sisters in Christ to be good stewards of our parish. The time is now for us to come together and connect. Will you answer the call?
