Register for Adult Group Studies - Spring 2020

We’ll be starting our spring adult group study program shortly with two exciting new studies. The first, Consecration to St. Joseph: The Wonders of our Spiritual Father, runs February 16th through March 22nd, and the second, Pivotal Players: Fulton J. Sheen & Flannery O’Connor, runs April 19th through May 24th. The studies cost $20 a piece, or $40 for both studies. Sessions will be held on Sunday mornings from 10:15 am—11:30 am in the Family Life Center library.

Study 1 - Consecration to St. Joseph: The Wonders of our Spiritual Father

Drawing on the wealth of the Church's living tradition, Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, calls on all of us to turn to St. Joseph, entrust ourselves, our Church, and our world to our spiritual father's loving care, and then watch for wonders when the Universal Patron of the Church opens the flood-gates of Heaven to pour out graces into our lives today. Definitely a book for our time, Consecration to St. Joseph is dedicated to meeting the challenges of the present moment and restoring order to our Church and our world, all through the potent paternal intercession and care of St. Joseph. This book has everything you need to take your love and devotion to St. Joseph to a whole different level: a thorough program of conse-cration to St. Joseph; information on the 10 wonders of St. Joseph; and prayers and devotions to St. Joseph. Accessible, motivating, this book will kick off a great movement of consecration to our spiritual father and change the world.

Study 2 - Pivotal Players: Fulton J. Sheen & Flannery O’Connor

CATHOLICISM: The Pivotal Players is a multi-part film series that illumines a handful of saints, artists, mystics, and scholars who not only shaped the life of the Church but changed the course of civilization. This NEW installment focuses on two incredible figures from the 20th century, Fulton Sheen and Flannery O'Connor.

Long before the Internet and social media, Fulton Sheen pioneered Catholic evangelization through the media. At a time when most preachers spoke only from pulpits, Sheen used electronic media as a means to reach far beyond the parish walls. His innovative radio and television pro-grams, beamed out to believers and skeptics alike, reached upwards of 30 million people per week.

Flannery O'Connor's influence on contemporary culture, particularly literature and film, is profound. Her novels and short stories have been de-scribed as shocking, convoluted, funny, and violent, and they are filled with unforgettably strange characters. But they are also, from beginning to end, haunted by Christ. O'Connor radically changes our idea of what religious fiction can be. Her startling prose awakens us to sin and, conse-quently, to the need for salvation.
