Novena for Our Nation

Praying the Rosary Coast-to-Coast

Parishioners of the Cathedral are invited to participate in a special novena for our great country. The 54-Day Novena for Our Nation was begun for the purpose of calling upon Almighty God, through the intercession of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, to heal our nation and return it to Holiness. This novena will be prayed across the United States, and throughout the world, from the Solemnity of the Assumption (August 15th) until the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7th). The novena has received the enthusiastic endorsement of many great leaders in our Church today, such as: Raymond Cardinal Burke, Bishop Robert Morlino, Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, and several others.

How the novena is prayed:
Beginning this coming Wednesday, August 15th (Solemnity of the Assumption), pray the Holy Rosary each day up to and including Sunday, October 7th (Feast of the Holy Rosary). Begin the first day of the novena by praying the Joyful Mysteries, then the following day pray the Sorrowful Mysteries, then the following day pray the Glorious Mysteries. On the fourth day, repeat this cycle beginning with the Joyful Mysteries again. Note: the Luminous Mysteries are not included, because this novena was created prior to their establishment. See the calendar below for a helpful guide of when to pray each set of mysteries. These days will differ from the traditional days that the mysteries are prayed.

Additional prayers related to the novena, as well as daily intetions, will be found by clicking here, as well as on the Novena for Our Nation Facebook page, or via the Novena for Our Nation e-mail subscription. The first 27 days of the novena are prayed in petition, while the second 27 days are prayed in thanksgiving.

At the conclusion of the novena, on Sunday October 7th, we are asked to pray the Holy Rosary together at 4 PM, as people from coast to coast will pray the Rosary at the exact same time on the feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. Everyone is welcome to join us in the Cathedral at 4 PM on October 7th to conclude the novena.
